Where It Is? : - Near Kakkabe, 45 kms from Madikeri.

How To Reach Igguthappa Temple :- By Road: From Virajpet, head towards south east of Virajpet – Madikeri road (SH-90). Take a left deviation from Kathanoor jn. To Kakabe on Virajpet – Talacauveery road (23) km. Turn left from there after 500m there is blue board indicate direction to Igguthappa Temple, take left deviation to the temple (1.5km). Timing 5.30 am to 2.00 pm and 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm.

Huthri : This marks the begining of rice harvest. Observed on the Full moon day which falls during Nov - Dec.

Kaliyarchi : Falls in the month of march the god is taken out on a procession to the top of Mallama Betta Hill and then reinstalled in the temple.




Igguthappa Temple TRAVEL INFORMATION : -

Padi Iggutappa Temple resembling most of the ancient Keralite temples, in style, is situated in Igguthappadevara Betta located in Aiyengari forest near Kakkbe. It is the supreme diety of worship for the Putheri festival (Harvesting Festival of Coorg). Iguthappa is another name for Lord Subramanya. The Annual festival held in the month of March during which time people from all over gather here to offer special prayers. ‘Tulabhara’, the art of weing oneself against fruits, sugar, coconuts, rice etc, is an important offering here. This temple is also an important part of Kodava Culture and tradition.
