Serene, beautiful – Chimmony wildlife sanctuary located in the Western Gates, on the western slopes of the Nelliyampathi hills, is one of the world’s 25 bio-diversity hotspots, and the haven of innumerable spices of endangered plants and animals. Along with the neighbouring Peechi-Vazhani Wildlife Sanctuary it forms a continuous protected area of 210 Sq.km. it also lies just west of Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary.

How to reach Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary

By Road: Amballur junction, 10kms south east to Thirssur towards Kochi in NH-47. take diversion from here, and proceed to east. Chimmony is at a distance of 25kms. Buses are available up to Dam site.

By rail: Thirssur, which is 36 kms from Sanctuary.

By air: Cochin International Airport(60km)

Nature Camps Nature camps are being conducted in the sanctuary for the students of Government recognized Educational institutions and NGOs (between 30-40 persons) involved in environmental condition (2-3 days). Free accommodation and vegetarian food will be provided. Sanctioning of Nature Camps will be on “first come first serve” basis.
